用法筆記
When -ty is added to a word ending in -e, the -e is usually dropped before adding the suffix (safe → safety, pure → purity). Words ending in -t or -te usually take the extended form -ity or -ety (electric → electricity, anxious → anxiety).
常見錯誤
Learners sometimes confuse -ty (noun suffix) with -ly (adverb suffix). Safety is a noun — the state of being safe — while safely is an adverb describing how an action is done.
