Manmohan Singh (1932–2024) was an Indian economist and statesman. He led the country as its head of government between 2004 and 2014 — a decade in which India experienced fast economic expansion. Earlier, as Finance Minister in 1991, he is widely remembered for dismantling protectionist policies and opening the nation to global trade and investment.
Manmohan Singh was the first Sikh to hold the office of Prime Minister in India.
